| About Me | I had the blessing of growing up within mangroves, tropical jungle and the Caribbean sea. My childhood in the Mayan land, surrounded by nature and being one with it, marked how I see and live my life. While growing up it was more common to hear the radio in Mayan than in Spanish, and the Mayan numbers and traditions governed our daily lives. While I come from Mexico, I feel more related to the Yucatan Peninsula traditions and the Caribbean costumes. I am the older child of Josefina Mayra Gabriela Guadalupe Martinez Duhart and Juan Ignacio Athie Lambarri. My three brothers and their adventures in nature and life marked how I explore the world. I am the 8th grandchild of Horacio Martinez Romero and Maria del Carmen Duhart Mead. And the first grandchild of Carlos Mauricio Athie Carrasco and Luz Maria Lambarri Baquedano. I have been working in educational projects guided and lead by local Indigenous Elders, communities and needs for the past 25 years. I had have the honour to collaborate, uplift and be witness of amazing educational projects that dignify the local Indigenous culture and language, and that all are still teaching generations of students from K-12 to higher education. I am passionate for life and I have the gift of dedicating my life to my calling. It is an honour to meet you and hope to be able to find ways to uphold and support each other here. |
